A Visual Double Portrait Concert of Kaija Saariaho & Jean-Baptiste Barrière

Kaija Saariaho and Jean-Baptiste Barrière, Composers-in-Residence during the Fall 2016 at The New School's College of Performing Arts, collaborated with flutist Margaret Lancaster in a multi-media event for flute and live electronics, with stage direction by Luca Veggetti. 


The program consisted of a unique musical and visual braid with interactive electronics and video based on the following works:

Kaija Saariaho:

"Laconisme de l’aile", for flute, electronics & video

"NoaNoa", for flute, electronics & video

 "Dolce Tormento",  for piccolo, electronics & video


Jean-Baptiste Barrière:

"Crossing the Blind Forest", for bass flute, piccolo, electronics & video

"Violance", for flute, recorded child voice, electronics & video

"Contemplation" (Premiere) for flutes, electronics & video
