Beau Travail/ Beautiful Work
An Interactive Installation
Conception & realization, music & image: Jean-Baptiste Barrière
Gesture detection & assistant: Thomas Goepfer
Original documentary & dance vidéos on gestures of work: Philippe Jamet
Premiere, Maison de la Culture de Bourges, March 4th, 2013.
Beyond their primary functions, do gestures of work have a beauty by themselves?
The visitor who enters the installation is invited to sketch the gestures of his own work in front of a strange electronic mirror.
These gestures are analyzed in real time by computer, compared, put in relations with others recorded in the mirror memory, and immediately transformed, prolongated, metamorphosed, in a attempt to reveal their potential hidden beauty.
Beauty of gesture, beautfil gesture, beautiful work?
Everyone is invited, literally to reflect about it.
